So week two has been a roller coaster. Good and bad. lol I dont think I ever really felt homesick in the mtc cuz that wasn't really away from home... so its kinda hitting me now. but I´m ok. Just trying to focus on Spanish and the work. On Thursday we baptized a man named Jose who was a drunk when my companion contacted him. Now he is a totally different person and is a much better father for his four little kids.
It has been raining a lot so the bugs are crazy. Mosquitoes, cockroaches, the works. But those are the lumps I guess... Haha I´m getting a little better at Spanish day by day... but still pretty slow. lol Spanish gives me a headache. Have you guys taken out the map yet and marked my area? City of Cancun, in the Kabah area.
Earlier this week at about eight pm (it gets dark at like six) my comp and I were walking hurriedly to an appointment when this drunk guy, holding the plastic ring of a six pack of beer in his hand, lol with only one beer left in it, chased us down and started talking to us about how he had no friends, but it was ok cuz God was always with him, lol he said, translated roughly.... God is always with me, even when I am drunk he is with me... and then he took a big gulp like to show us or something.. it was weird. haha Then he offered me beer and we just left. That was my first experience with a drunk.
Another night, we were clear out on the far end of our area far away from our house, and we would normally take a cab to get home, but it was nice out so we decided to walk... we were walking down this street, and we really didn't know exactly where we were, but anyways this lady called after us and offered us water, so we went over and realized it was a lady we had contacted earlier last week who didn´t let us in. She talked with us for a minute, and she told us when we asked her if she needed help with anything around the house, she said, no elders, just spiritual help.. so we invited her to come to church sometime, and she said she would (she still won't let us in. I think her boyfriend is the reason) but yeah it was cool to see how the Lord puts us in people's paths.
It's crazy to me that at home in happy valley I was scared to walk around at night, but here, in one of the most dangerous cities in Mexico, we walk down alleys in slums and dirt roads and shanties... after dark... two clean cut white boys with nice clothes and watches and no one ever touches us... lol the members here are more scared for us than we are. I know with out a doubt that the Lord is with us always. We are always protected. No one has so much as even looked at us wrong here. It's amazing.
Week 3

I am healthy, but my comp got a little sick from the rain from the¨hurricane´ which never even hit us!!! I gave him a blessing on Sat night so he is doing much better. We give so many blessings here it's crazy. This one sister crashed on her longboard and couldn't walk and we gave her a blessing. Two days later we were amazed to see her walk into the chapel for the activity night, perfectly fine!!!
Here is a funny dog story... we were walking down the street and this huge rottweiler was just barking his head off at us like running in circles behing his gate trying to get to us.. well, it was raining so the ground was wet and one of the times he came around he slipped and totally ate it and face planted it on the floor!!! haha We laughed our heads off and it stuck its tail between its legs and went in its dog house...
Mexico is definitely a third world country... I don't remember if I told you but we sleep in hammocks.. They are pretty comfy but my back is a little jacked up. haha Another thing they lack here is toilet seats..... so that has been an interesting experience to sit on toilets with no seats.
They have this dessert here that is so good! it is called arroz con leche (rice with milk) and it is basically rice pudding but a hundred times better! rice, milk cinnamon, and cocoa! oh my heck its good!

Halloween here was funny - the kids trick or treated for like 3 days. haha it was cute until like the third day then it just got old... I have to tell you about this guy in our ward, Hermano Cucko. haha he has NO teeth! and he is deaf! He is the funniest guy!
Tons of crazy stuff is happening here, like we are teaching this one guy who has smoked for 29 years and we comitted him to live the word of wisdom this week and we came back four days later and he still hadnt smoked!!! yess!!!! hahaha its so cool to see how the gospel blesses people´s lives!!! So i don´t know if you heard or not, but a tropical storm or like a mini hurricane was supposed to come through here yesterday... so we like had to stay in our house all day saturday and sunday and there was tons of rain but the stupid hurricane never even hit us!!! it was lame!!!
Pedro, the guy we are teaching who quit smoking , was like sititng there playing with this sea shell.. I didn't know how to say it in spanish so I picked it up and started to ask him.. Well while I was asking, the crab that lived inside the shell (unknownto me) stuck out his claw and grabbed my hand!!! haha I then screamed like a girl, jumped up off the couch and screamed, in English... AH! ITS ALIVE! and I threw it across the room! My companion was laughing so hard!!! It was pretty embarassing but pretty funny.

The other day Hermana Ivett took us out to eat at this place that makes tortas. a torta is kinda like a mexican grilled sandwich.. WEll she bought something called a torta cubana (cuban) and this is what is on it... the grilled bread of course, fried chicken, ham, hotdogs, chorizo, (mexican sausage) eggs, cheese, avocados, and jalapenos, with hot suace and mayonaisse! it is like eight inches high!!! it was so good but probably the most unhealthy thing ive ever eaten! But yeah I think I´m losing a little weight. My comp and others have told me my face is skinnier. Also I went a belt notch tighter so that is cool... In the summer the weight is just gonna melt cuz of the heat...
We have another baptism this week (hopefully) she is kind of a little nervous, so, we hope she doesnt bail... that will be my third baptism already if she goes through with it which is alot really fast. lol my comp has been here 17 months and it will only be his fifteenth.. so i am very forutnate...
