From Elder E's October 7, 2009 letter -

"I would appreciate a bijillion letters in these last 12 days I have in modern civilization!!! TELL everyone to write me everyday!!! cuz after I go to mexico who knows if I'll even get my letters!!! hahaha So yeah, everyone write me tons! Pass it along!

Holy Conference!!! Wow! I think for the first time in my life I was excited for Conference... no excited isn't the right word. I can only describe it as how excited I get for BYU games at home... but more! I prayed and wrote down some questions Friday night and both were answered by Richard G Scott's talk in Saturday morning! What a talk!! Every single talk was so amazing!!!

I don't have too much time, but there was one talk that just left me dumbfounded.... like King Lamoni struck dumb, prostrated on the ground dumbfounded, tears streaming down my face, had no control of my limbs dumbfounded!! ELDER Holland's talk about the Book of Mormon has got to be the most powerful words I have ever heard come out of anyone's mouth. I have no doubt in my mind that it hit all of us 100 times stronger as missionaries as well because of our close relationship with the Book of Mormon each day! Elder Holland bore what may be the most blunt powerful testimony of the Book of Mormon in history other than that of Joseph Smith... it pierced me to the core!

I, Like Elder Holland, want it to be known to all of you that as a representative of Jesus Christ I know without a doubt that the Book of Mormon is the Word of God! Any problem or question you could ever possibly have in this life can be and is answered by the B of M! I always enjoyed the B of M at home, but there's nothing like searching through it's wonderful pages each day, finding things in every verse that could help you teach someone, or can fix a doubt or problem someone has! The Book of Mormon is the keystone of our religion!!! Through it, along with the restored gospel and atonement of Jesus Christ ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE!!! This gospel is so great I just want to shout it on the mountain tops! I would encourage all of you to increase your study of the Book of Mormon! I testify from EXPERIENCE that if you do, every thing else in your life will get so much better! The Book of Mormon is a shield and protection for us in the last days. USE IT!!!

Even with all the crazy spiritual experiences and all we have learned here in the MTC it is so humbling and scary to know we will be in the field in 11 days!!! WOW!!!
I can tell you without a doubt that everything done here is by the Lord's hand.. .I am teaching full lessons and bearing testimony in spanish, I have almost read through the entire Book of Mormon again in seven weeks, along with all the other studying I have! Healings happen here everyday by the power of the priesthood, and blessings from fasting! This is the closest place to Zion on the face of the earth! We are all still having our little murmurings and weaknesses, and yes it is still very very very hard to be here, but it is worth it! We all don't always get along, but we are all one in purpose and you can feel that spirit as you walk through the MTC . This place has converted so many visitors just by getting tours through it!!!

This Gospel changes lives, and it couldn't do that if it wasn't true! I know it does cuz it has changed my life so much in the last seven weeks! The gospel brings a happiness and fullness that can not come from anything else! It is the answer to all of life’s problems! As Elder Holland said when he was here – dont "go back to real life when you get home. THIS is as close to real life as you can get on this earth." It is the same for you all at home!!! Be dilligent! Pray and study!"
