Elder Eddington is in Mexico!

"Wow. What a couple of days I have had. In Dallas we were informed that our flight to Mexico City would be delayed cuz the plane had no power and they were trying to fix it. Not something you want to hear before you get on a plane. haha So anyways we ended up leaving Dallas about an hour late. So we fly to Mexico City, it is HUGE!!!!!! Like looking out both windows its just straight buildings as far as you can see in either direction. So we get to customs and immigration and the line is, of course, GINORMOUS. So we told a guy that our flight left in like ten minutes and he let us through. Then we had to print boarding passes. So after that four missionaries were sprinting through the Mexico City airport! Luckily they held the flight for us so we made it... barely.. I was surprised because the "mexicana click" plane was actually way nicer than the American Airlines plane. It was really new and nice. So we finally get in to Merida like an hour late and its already dark. So we go get our luggage and head to customs, and there is our mission President and his wife waiting for us on the other side. Our Pres and his wife, President Cardenas, are awesome! The only drawback is they speak only spanish. So I guess I will learn faster. So that night they took us to meet some missionaries in the Merida area, then they took us four noobs to a restaurant. it was called fogoncitos... Wow! Real Mexican food is good! So we ate our butts off there and then went back to the mission home and passed out. Then, yesterday, we had our training all morning at the mission home for like 5 hours. The breakfast was amazing! They tooks us to meet our trainers. My comp´s name is Elder Elledge. He is from Hawaii. He has been here for sixteen months. I am his third elder he´s trained. So we were sent to my first city is Cancun and my area is Kabah. It is pretty cool. It rained cats and dogs all night last night and some this morning. This morning we ate at McDonalds for breakfast and then went grocery shoppñing for the week.

I have quickly found out that i speak NO Spanish!!! Everyone here speaks really fast so its kinda hard to understand. Even my comp speaks fast but I´m sure I´ll pick it up pretty quick. I saw my first two cockroaches last night! And, the first time we walked in the door of our apartment there was a gecko on the wall... yay! haha Also later on I was standing in the bathroom with my hand on the doorframe and one crawled down my hand!!! We sleep in hammocks, or hamacas. It was different, but I´ll get used to it. Lol I´m feeling overwhelmed cuz I can't understand a word anyone says but I feel ok, the Lord is with us. My comp is helping me out, so it will be good. Cancun is a pretty crazy city, the traffic is nuts! Utah drivers are pro compared to the drivers here. There is also lots of dogs everywhere, but they are nice. Oh also, we have a shower, but there is NO hot water, so i got to stand in a freezing cold shower this morning!!! Hopefully I will get used to that as well. I´m actually holding up pretty well emotionally i thought i would be totally flipping out right now. ..I´m just nervous for when we teach tonight because I can speak ok, but I just can't understand anything that's being said. So if I can just keep up with the lesson I should be ok. Pesos are weird looking they are kinda like plasticy and different colors. All the people here are very nice though, so I´m sure it will be a good area.

Tell everyone to write! whether through pouch or dear elder, if you can. I´m pretty scared but I know the Lord is with us, so ... esta bien"
