Jan. 11 - Week 12

"The changes finally came this morning and me and my companion are both staying another change!! It's really crazy because companionships usually don’t stay together more than two changes !!! So yeah we both have another six weeks here in good old KABAH! As for our ward, we were teaching Gospel Principles, but now the bishop does it. Our ward is about 130 active members.

We had a baptism yesterday in the afternoon - Hermana Stephany.. She is a nine year old girl and her mom is a member but was inactive and Stephany kept bugging her about getting baptized and reactivated her mom. So we taught her this week and baptized her yesterday. It was really cool. As for Martin, the one who we postponed for the ninth because he drank, well he was doing excellent. We scheduled his baptism interview for the eighth, then when we came over he informed us that he had drank again that day. We pretty much think he is just playing with God right now, but nevertheless we set another date for the 23rd. If he doesn’t comple this one we’re leaving him. It's sad but we don’t have time to waste on the people who don’t want to progress. There is too much work here for that.

Another cool investigator we have is Hermano Manuel He is the boyfriend of a member. We have only taught him twice and he already has a baptismal date for the thirtieth. He actually told us he’s frustrated cuz he has to wait three more weeks just to get baptized and then a whole year to get sealed in the temple!!! haha So yeah..

We’ve actually got a lot of investigators right now and some good prospects so hopefully this next change will bring lots of success!

We are also teaching English classes. It's actually a really good finding tool. We have gotten three investigators out of it. I enjoy it. It's funny to listen to the Mexicans try to pronounce the English words.
My comp and I are getting along MUCH better. One day when we were fighting, I went into the bedroom and prayed for like 30 minutes that the Lord could humble me and that I could accept my companion and our differences. I pretty much told the Lord that I didn’t care about "me" anymore, just our investigators and that we HAVE to have the spirit so he HAS to help me get along with my comp. Since then we haven´t fought once. Pretty awesome!

Here on the 6th of January they have a holiday here called Dia de los Reyes - "Day of the Kings". It's cool the kids all get presents again - like from the three wisemen, and there’s this big cake ring thing called a rosca de reyes - everyone eats a piece and in this are hidden three dolls. Who ever finds the dolls in their piece has to make tamales for the others!!!! haha I'm so sick of eating this stupid cake - every house we go to we eat it!!!

We totally got to eat at Carl´s JR !!!! It was so good!!! It’s been 5 months since I had had a burger and fries!! yum!!!!!!

The other day we were playing soccer... I was chasing the ball toward the goal and it bounced like right at head level so I jumped and headed it towards the goal, but I was also running right towards my comp (who was the goalie for the other team) and I totally took him out... it hurt!!! But when I got up I found out the ball went in! haha It was pretty much the greatest soccer moment of my life!"

Jan. 18 - Week 13

"5 Months! Doing pretty good here! Still in Cancun, so I can´t complain. We have so much flippin work right now! We are literally like bogged down with investigators. It's really awesome but at the same time really stressful cuz there is so much to remember and all and alot of stress because when they dont complete with their commitments it's really sad. Other than that life is great here in ol´Mexico... we brought 10 people to church this week which was the best I´ve ever done on the mission but still frustrating cuz we had 15 that were going to come. Our three best investigators didn't go! grrrrrr! Oh well. all is in the hands of the Lord... So, we have been playing soccer alot this week. I´m actually getting pretty good! This week is gonna fly by cuz we have so much work!!!! I can´t wait!!!!

All is well here!!!! We confirmed the little girl we baptized on Sunday. She is way happy. Also, the alcoholic we've been teaching forever... we finally had to leave. Sad, but maybe some day he will accept."
